Trip to David Bowyer for winch fitting

by Paul White

This is a summary of my trip down to Devon on April 12th 2008 to have my TDS Goldfish 12000 lb winch fitted to my Land Rover Defender.

There are so many winches on the market that it's really hard to know which one to choose. I spoke with many  fellow enthusiasts who all had differing opinions, but obviously a lot depends on budget and build quality. One of my friends gave me the details of David Bowyer who has a great deal of knowledge gained from many years as a retailer and fitter of winches, so I gave him a call. This conversation sealed the deal and I arranged an appointment with David to a TDS Goldfish 12000 lb winch installed.

As soon as I arrived David was straight on with the job. The old bumper was dropped and the new winch bumper was quickly installed.

The routing of the wires from the winch to the battery was a bit fiddly but David was determined to find the best route possible.

Once the electrics were routed the control cable was then attached to the spool so the winch cable could be reeled on.
